Promoting Sustainable Forest Management through Sustainable Procurement
J A Stott (Carpentry) Ltd recognises that:
• Forests are essential for human survival and well-being.
• Promoting ways to use forest biodiversity in a sustainable way, and with clear social and economic benefits for the poor, is important.
• Forest certification provides evidence of sustainable forest management. Mainstreaming forest certification systems (such as ‘The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification’ (PEFC) or ‘Forest Stewardship Council’ (FSC)) will assist in promoting sustainable forest management.
As a user of timber and wood-based products, J A Stott (Carpentry) Ltd recognizes that it has a responsibility to current and future generations and will therefore strive to promote sustainable forest management. By demanding products from sustainably managed forests, we aim to stimulate the improvement of forest management and discourage unsustainable management practices.
J A Stott (Carpentry) Ltd will give preference to suppliers who can demonstrate that their products originate from sustainably managed forests and at all times will operate within the EU Timber regulations.
We consider it important that the origin of our wood-based products can be demonstrated through credible, independent Chain of Custody certification based on international standards and norms. In this context, we recognize the global PEFC / FSC forest certification system, as well as other third-party verified certification systems based on similar principles, as evidence of responsible and sustainable sourcing.
The Directors of the company will monitor and review the operation of this policy on an annual basis to endeavour that it remains relevant and appropriate to the company and will make available this statement in prominent positions in the offices and workplace for inspection by all employees and other interested parties
J A Stott (Carpentry) Ltd has made a commitment to continual improvement to conform to current applicable legislation and to improve our performance effectively and efficiently, to meet changing business and regulatory needs.
